Paul and Laura Magu came to us with a dream: to create a classic French bistro that the Bay Area suburb of Lafayette could call its own.
We generated a long list of names, but REVE (which means “dream” in French) stuck. The reality was they needed a branding look and tone that would separate them from the fussy, overpriced French restaurant that they were replacing
To be honest, our positioning line, “A little Paris in the hood” made the Magus a little nervous. But they trusted us. And allowed us to give some attitude and a timeless photographic style to everything—their signage, website, menu, comment card and the list keeps growing.
And we’re happy to say that their branding has actually has gotten as many favorable reviews as Paul’s Steak Frites.
